What is Competences 4ESD about?
The Competences4ESD: An innovative ESD Key Competencies Training Model for teachers in the framework of the 4SDG - Quality Education for ALL project was born out of the need to provide teachers with the necessary competencies to effectively introduce education for sustainable development (ESD) in school communities. In response to the global challenges posed by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the project aims to train teachers in critical thinking and systematic approach skills that will enable students to understand the interrelationships between ecological, economic and socio-cultural structures.
As part of the project, the following activities are planned:
-
Development and testing of an innovative training model for teachers to develop key competencies in the area of ESD. For this purpose, there will be created:
-
ESD teacher competency framework,
-
A training course to support teachers in teaching ESD,
-
An educational game based on role-playing scenarios,
-
An e-learning platform to support hybrid teaching processes.
-
-
Training for 18 trainers and 10 novice and 10 active teachers in each partner country.
-
Organization of promotional events, which aim to popularize the results of the project among teachers, school principals, education leaders and education policy makers.
Expected outcomes include the professional development of teachers, improving their digital competencies and enhancing their ability to engage school communities in sustainable development activities. The project also provides for the creation of policy recommendations for the development of ESD teachers' key competencies.
The project is implemented under the Erasmus+ program by a consortium consisting of educational, research and non-governmental institutions from Poland, Germany, Cyprus, Finland, Slovenia and Greece.
